Coursework areas from the Herzing College program. Studied, not offered as services — each area below opens its own study-notes page.
Structured cabling and data networks: EIA/TIA standards, Cat5e/Cat6 and fiber-optic media, and Canadian Electrical Code Section 60 for communication systems.
Study notes →Systematic fault-finding: root cause analysis, insulation and True-RMS testing, and Lockout/Tagout safety as taught in the program.
Study notes →Planning an installation: load calculations under CEC Section 8, material take-offs, and the logistics of keeping a job on schedule — as coursework exercises.
Study notes →Every area follows the same discipline: learn the standard first, then the procedure, then the tool — and verify the result before calling it done. The references that anchor all three areas are the Canadian Electrical Code (CSA C22.1, including Section 60 for communication systems and Section 8 for demand and service calculations), the TIA-568 structured cabling standards, and the BICSI manuals for installation practice.
Safety is not a separate subject here; it runs through all three areas. Lockout/Tagout before touching equipment, Working at Heights rules on ladders and platforms, testing before touching a conductor, and respecting laser safety around optical fiber are habits, not footnotes. The full list of regulators and safety authorities sits on the resources page.
